Be careful with emails asking you to log into your account to fix specific problems such as your account being terminated, because there’s a GOOD chance that it is some one trying to scam you by “phishing”.

Phishing is the process in which an online scam artist creates a duplicate page of certain sites such as banking, ebay, credit card companies, or other promising company’s sites. They will try to gain your trust with this method to get your information such as passwords, credit card numbers, or social security numbers to use them for identity fraud, to steal from you. This is screwed up and anyone can get tricked into identity theft, but there are certain steps you can take to ensure your identity’s safety.

1. ) NEVER click on a link in an email in order to enter your log-in information or password. Instead, if you think the email may be legitimate, go directly to the company website using your Internet Explorer or Netscape browser. (Do not copy and paste a url address out of a suspicious email.)

2.) Always use a company's official website to submit personal information. If information is submitted online, it should only be done from the company's official web site using a secure server.

3.) Call the company, if still in doubt about what the email says. Most companies want to be alerted so they can notify their customers if someone is impersonating them.
